Hosting Day
A Guide for Our Hostess
As you prepare to host your guests, this guide is designed to help you set the stage for a truly seamless, elegant, and memorable afternoon.
✦
1. Setting the Mood
- The Soundtrack — a theme-appropriate playlist is essential. Music transforms a room from “just a house” into an “event venue.”
- The Scent — keep the air light and fresh. Avoid heavy candles or diffusers near the dining table, as they can interfere with the delicate flavours of the tea and food.
- The Light — if hosting indoors, draw back the curtains to let in natural light. For an evening tea, use warm, low-level lighting or small tea lights.
2. Preparing Your Space
- Fridge Readiness — please ensure one or two shelves in your refrigerator are completely clear before we arrive, so we can store your cream products and perishables at the perfect temperature.
- The Table — we will handle the linens and styling. Clearing the table surface of personal items beforehand ensures a smooth, quick setup.
- Safety & Access — please ensure pets and small children are in a safe, quiet space during setup, so we can focus on styling the china and glassware without risk of breakage.
3. Allergy & Environment Safety
- Egg Allergy Awareness — our signature sponges and pastries are made with premium fresh eggs; please let your guests know eggs are a primary ingredient in our menu.
- Nut-Safe Practices — while we take exhaustive measures to prevent cross-contamination, our kitchen cannot guarantee a completely nut-free environment.
- Hostess Supervision — we recommend identifying any guests with severe allergies prior to the event. We can provide separate serving tongs and designated allergy-safe plates where needed.
4. The Hostess Touch
- The Welcome — your greatest role is to feel relaxed. Once setup and your final briefing are complete, it is time to step into the role of host.
- Guest Engagement — do not be afraid to lean into the theme — a small accessory can make your guests feel more comfortable participating.
- Capture the Moment — once the table is set, take a moment to snap a few photos before your guests arrive.
5. After the Event
- The Cleanup Grace — your booking includes a professional teardown. Please keep all fine china and glassware in the designated area we set up.
- The Security Bond — a $100 security bond is held to cover the replacement of any damaged, missing or broken china, glass or cutlery.
- Feedback & Memories — if you post your photos, tag us #Ivorynscone.
